Begonia carpet

Every other year in August a carpet of begonia blossoms is created in front of the Grand-Place of Brussels, Belgium. Over 700,000 gorgeous begonia blossoms are packed together to create a 77 x 24 m design. (I think that translates to 252 X 78 feet, a huge area.) Begonias are used because of the color range and their resistance to fading.
The design is laid out and in about four hours, master gardeners have finished the intricate design. To see the photos, I would have thought it would take far longer than a few hours.
I have a bright yellow begonia on the front porch. It is so eye catching with the blooms draping over the side of the pot. They are great in hanging baskets, too. If you haven't used begonias, plan on having some next year. Or this year, if you live in a warm climate where you may be ab;e to find them year round. Around here, it's slim picking at most garden centers.
